What is Student Wellness Ambassador Program?
The Student Wellness Ambassador Program is a component of the California Community Colleges Health and Wellness www.cccstudentmentalhealth.org. This program will have 20 students who will serve as student wellness ambassadors at their California Community College. Ambassadors will help their peers’ access services, conduct outreach, disseminate mental health materials, and help decrease the stigma around mental health and wellness.

What is its current status and anticipated upcoming key dates?
The application was open to any eligible CCC student from April 30th, 2019 through May 24th, 2019. Students who submitted an application were notified of their acceptance in June 2019. Students who are accepted attended the 2-day orientation in Sacramento, CA (all travel expenses covered by the Foundation for California Community Colleges). The main activities will take place in the fall semester of 2019 and spring semester of 2020, concluding in May 2020.

What does the Student Wellness Ambassador opportunity offer?
A total of 20 Student Wellness Ambassadors were selected for the 2019-2020 school year, Ambassadors will:
- Be trained as a Student Wellness Ambassador through a combination of in-person and online trainings;
- Be connected with a faculty advisor on their campus;
- Complete a series of milestone goals around peer-outreach on campus, share mental health and wellness materials, plan a health and wellness event or activity, work with a faculty advisor, participate in monthly calls with fellow Student Ambassadors; and
- Each Ambassador will receive $1,000 for their service, and an all-expense paid trip to Sacramento to participate in a mandatory 2-day training in August 2019.

What are the eligibility criteria for students?
- Must be enrolled at least part-time at a California community college
- Available to attend a two-day training in Sacramento (All travel will be paid for by the Foundation)
- Commit to serving as a Student Ambassador through May 2020

What is the purpose of the 2-day training in Sacramento?
The purpose of the 2-day training in Sacramento is to bring together the Student Wellness Ambassadors to map out their action plans for the year, receive trainings in stigma reduction and peer to peer support, and to develop leadership skills. This is also a wonderful opportunity to build relationships with your cohort.

What role does the Foundation for California Community Colleges play?
The Foundation for California Community Colleges is the lead agency in selecting the Student Wellness Ambassadors and facilitating the program. Students will also be connected to an advisor on their campus, however they will be expected to communicate their activities in addition to reporting their metrics to the Foundation for California Community Colleges throughout the program.
